Vicki StrachanPatent Attorney
Vicki has a first class honours degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and specialises in technical fields such as power electronics, semiconductors, optoelectronics, robotics and computer-implemented inventions. She has many years’ experience of advising clients of all sizes on all aspects of intellectual property, with specific emphasis on providing IP advice and guidance to startups and SMEs looking for funding or growth. Vicki is also a qualified teacher and has a particular interest in the education of patent attorneys, intellectual property administrative staff and the wider community. Vicki is the head of the Oxfordshire office.

Vicki has many years’ experience of advising clients of all sizes on all aspects of intellectual property, whether that be in relation to the management of a large portfolio of patents and designs covering a large range of products and services, helping SMEs to develop a sound IP strategy, or helping start-ups and entrepreneurs to secure the protection they need to launch a product for the first time.
With a techincal background in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Vicki has specialised in computer-implemented inventions and the legal issues that arise in relation to such inventions.
Vicki also has many years experience in drafting, prosecution, oral proceedings and oppositions at the EPO in a wide variety of technologies. She is also a qualified teacher and held the position of Curriculum Leader in the Engineering department of Gloucestershire College, teaching engineering apprentices in various subjects, particularly level 4 and level 5 engineering maths.
In her previous role with another firm of patent attorneys, Vicki led and helped develop a training academy, which provided a formal curriculum and strategy for training graduate recruits to become qualified patent attorneys, as well as providing external training for clients and the wider community.
