BSc, MRes, PhD
Tom joined Mathys & Squire in 2019 and works as a technical assistant in the life sciences team.
Tom has experience in drafting and prosecution of patent applications, as well as in the provision of freedom-to-operate opinions mainly for start-up biotech companies and universities. He has experience in the area of immunology including in vaccines and antibodies, CRISPR, and stem cells. Before completing his PhD, Tom worked for a small biotech company based in Cardiff and a multinational gene sequencing company based in Cambridge.
Tom obtained his PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences from the University of Manchester, focussing on the regulation of inflammation in Mesenchymal Stromal Cells. Tom holds a Master of Research degree in Tissue Engineering for Regenerative Medicine also from the University of Manchester and a BSc in Biochemistry from Cardiff University. Before joining Mathys & Squire, Tom was a technical assistant at another IP firm where he completed his Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary University of London.
