Edd joined Mathys & Squire in 2015 having worked for two years in another large UK-based patent attorney firm. He has experience drafting and prosecuting UK and European patent applications, and managing international portfolios, particularly in the software, networking, materials and green energy fields.
Expertise
Edd has extensive experience with electronic devices, particularly from a materials perspective, including semiconductor devices and applied superconductivity. In addition, he also has experience in applied cryogenics; medical devices; software and networking; quantum information and computation systems; automotive systems including electric vehicles; marine mooring systems; and green energy production.
Academic
Edd holds an MPhys degree from the University of Leeds, a PhD from the University of Cambridge and a Certificate in intellectual property law from Queen Mary, University of London.
Memberships & organisations
Edd is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and a full member of the European Patent Institute (EPI).
Recent work
Edd has recently been assisting in the drafting and prosecution of applications of a large multinational company specialising in network operation protocols and the manufacture of networking devices. In addition, he has been involved in advising green-energy startups on all aspects of their intellectual property (IP) portfolios.
