Trainee patent attorney
Jessica has been a member of the life sciences & chemistry team at Mathys & Squire since February 2019. She holds a first class MChem degree from the University of Oxford.
Jessica has experience in the prosecution of European patent applications as well as management of global patent portfolios for clients in the pharmaceutical field. She has also been involved in drafting patent applications and opposition proceedings at the EPO.
Her scientific background has involved theoretical and practical experience across organic chemistry, including medicinal chemistry, transition metal catalysis and reaction development. She has a variety of experience in the pharmaceutical industry from lead identification through to scale-up and process development.
Jessica graduated with a first-class degree in Chemistry from the University of Oxford in 2015, for which she completed a year-long research project on a de novo synthesis of multisubstituted aryl amines. She went on to undertake three years of research in Organic Chemistry at the University of Bristol, during which she developed regioselective and asymmetric iridium-catalysed C-H alkylation methodologies with a view to finding applications in synthesis.
She also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London.
