Christopher joined the IT & software team at Mathys & Squire in August 2023 having previously worked 4.5 years at another London-based IP firm.
Expertise
Christopher has a large amount of experience in the prosecution of patents in the field of telecommunications, including standards essential patents. Christopher also has experience drafting and prosecuting patents in the fields of utilities, semiconductors, green tech, and nuclear fusion technology.
Outside of patents, Christopher takes a keen interest in the nuances of design law, and has experience with design application filings and prosecution.
Academic
Christopher has a PhD from the University of Cambridge. His thesis, which was undertaken at the Cavendish Laboratory, investigated the structure-property relationships and nonlinear optics of octupolar organic and organometallic complexes. Christopher has written and contributed to several scientific journals in this area. He has also written a book chapter on the topic for the publisher Elsevier. Prior to Cambridge, Christopher was awarded a first-class MSci in physics from Queen’s University, Belfast. His masters research project investigated ferroelectric memory devices and their design.

Christopher has recently been assisting on the drafting and prosecution of the patent portfolio of a large multinational telecommunications company in Europe.
