Trainee Patent Attorney

Adina joined Mathys & Squire as a Technical Assistant in the IT & engineering team, having started training as a patent attorney with another private practice firm in January 2020. In particular, she has experience working with cases relating to blockchain, software, processor architecture, and machine learning. Adina holds a masters degree in materials science.
Expertise
Since starting her training, Adina has gained experience in patent drafting, prosecution and opposition of patent applications in the UK, Europe and worldwide. This has involved working for a variety of clients, from large multinational companies to inventor applicants. In 2021, Adina undertook a secondment at a major blockchain company, working on infringement analysis.
Academic
Adina studied natural sciences at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. As part of this course, she studied physics, chemistry, and materials science, eventually specialising in materials science for an intercalated masters degree. As part of her masters degree, she conducted research into the piezoelectric properties of porous gallium nitride.
