Newly appointed staff usually provide full secretarial support service to a small team of attorneys and trainees.  This will involve receiving and recording documents from various sources on to the firm’s systems, preparing documents, managing diaries and making appointments.  With time and experience there will often be the opportunity to become a secretary to more senior attorneys at the firm.


Paralegal Work – The firm offers opportunities to pursue careers in professional support.  There are a number of challenging roles requiring the development of in-depth knowledge of patent laws and data entry, covering not only UK and European jurisdictions but also across the world, such as the United States, Korea and Japan.  Such roles offer plenty of client contact, reminding clients of patent & design renewal deadlines, as well as processing such instructions, paying renewal fees directly at Patent Offices and instructing foreign attorneys.

Such roles require good administrative and secretarial skills; good communication (written and spoken) and experience of direct client contact.

There is usually the opportunity to undertake training and examination to achieve paralegal qualification in patents or trade marks.

General Administration

The firm operates with a small team of administrative staff to carry out reception, post and filing services.
