Current Opportunities

Chemistry/Pharma - London

We have space for two additional fee earners in this part of the practice, working jointly for Stephen Garner and Toby Simpson. Ideally we would recruit:

(i) a part qualified Trainee and (ii) a dual qualified Associate with around 2 years’ post qualified experience.

Candidates should have a Chemistry or Pharmacology degree and professional experience in this field. The ideal candidate would have experience of working for pharma clients in connection with small molecule drugs (i.e. medicinal chemistry). If a candidate had some exposure to biotech that would be helpful but is by no means a requirement.

IT & Engineering - London

Paul Cozens and Dani Kramer work closely together and share resources. They are looking for two part qualified attorneys who could have a software/computer science background or be more focused on general engineering. The team has a broad, mainly UK, client base and does a lot in the start-up space so can accommodate a range of different disciplines.

Dani has a strong and growing Designs practice so we are also keen to see candidates with expertise and interest in that field.

Trade marks - Manchester

Gary Johnson leads our Manchester TM team. He and Laura West, a Managing Associate, have a very busy caseload and hope to take on a junior to train and grow with the practice as it develops further. We are ideally looking for a finalist or recently qualified trade mark attorney for a role handling a mix of contentious and non-contentious cases, working with a range of clients across the automotive, consumer goods, sports, food and drink, clothing, pharmaceuticals and leisure sectors. The group is well established and benefits from the support of an experienced Paralegal team. The broader trade marks practice includes our London team, comprising another Partner, an Associate and a Trainee, ensuring there is depth across both offices.

Biotech - Newly Qualified - London

This is a new role to work alongside Pippa Griffin, one of our London partners, who is expanding her team. The work will involve circa 50% contentious work so some experience of oppositions would be useful. The other 50% is prosecution for a broad range of clients, mainly US originating, and will include a mix of agency and direct clients. The technologies will include antibody work but will also range across a variety of clients in the biotech/biopharma fields.

The team comprises Pippa, an experienced dual qualified Associate, and we have recently hired a new graduate who joins later this year so this is an exciting time to join and have the opportunity to help train a TA.

Part Qualified - IT & Engineering – Cambridge

We have a new role for a junior IT&E fee earner, ideally part qualified, to join James Pitchford in our Cambridge office. This is to replace his current TA who wishes to move to our London office for personal reasons – we are therefore keen to ensure the new hire is committed to the Cambridge area!

James is very active in Business Development so people who work with him get exposure to a lot of interesting activities in marketing and new client development. He has a broad practice acting for entrepreneurs and start-ups alongside larger corporations and universities. Technologies vary but include semiconductors, electronics and telecommunications, aerospace, agritech, image techniques and medical devices.

This exciting opportunity is open to both experienced Patent Secretaries or someone with previous legal secretarial experience who is keen to enhance their skill set in a specialist market.
