Partner Laura Clews and Head of Consulting Lyle Ellis will be speaking in an online webinar titled ‘The Changing Requirements in Fats – How to Make it Workable’ on 22nd October.
Alternative fats are attracting growing attention in the food technology industry, opening new opportunities for companies innovating in the space. However, companies may still face technical, commercial and legal challenges when bringing their technology to market.
In this webinar, hosted by Protein Production Technology International, Laura Clews and Lyle Ellis will share their insights on navigating an increasingly complex IP landscape, answering important questions such as what can be patented, whether patents, trade secrets or proprietary know-how offer the strongest protection and how to avoid costly commercialisation obstacles.
This webinar is an unmissable opportunity for food scientists and product developers, lipid and fat specialists, R&D and innovation managers, ingredient manufacturers and technology developers, leadership teams at food-tech companies, investors in food technology, and IP specialists to learn how to leverage their intellectual property and where gaps for new, commercially valuable and protectable fat technologies lie.
Laura Clews is a UK & European patent attorney with extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications, and in patent opposition work. She has specialist expertise in food and beverage technologies, such as flavourings, coating compositions, food processing, alternative proteins and many more, and has managed the IP portfolios of numerous companies in this space. She has also made a number of media appearances, sharing her insights on IP in the food industry, such as on BBC Radio’s ‘The Food Chain: Trade Secrets’, as an expert guest for Adam Ragusea’s YouTube channel, discussing recipe ownership rights, and in Protein Production Technology International (PPTI)’s podcast, and has published articles across a number of industry publications, including New Food Magazine, The Journal of the Institute of Food Science & Technology and PPTI Magazine.
