Two new Partners at IP law firm Mathys & Squire

Leading intellectual property law firm Mathys & Squire has confirmed a round of promotions for equity Partners, Partners, and Managing Associates. The commentary provided by Mathys & Squire has featured in an article by The Patent Lawyer and The Solicitors Journal.

Max Thoma and Andrea McShane have been promoted to Partner from Managing Associate.

Caroline Warren, Craig Titmus, Stephen Garner and Juliet Redhouse have all been promoted within the partnership.

  • Caroline Warren (London office) has been with Mathys & Squire since 2001 and became a Chartered UK Patent Attorney in 2004. She has since worked across a broad spectrum of technologies with clients ranging from UK startups to large multinational companies.
  • Craig Titmus (Cambridge office) joined the firm in 2014 as a Patent Attorney and has been highly endorsed for his work on a variety of technical subjects. He has been recommended in the previous five editions of the IAM Patent 1000 guide which praised his ability to “reduce complexity to simplicity.
  • Stephen Garner (Cambridge office) celebrated his 10-year anniversary of working as a UK and EU Patent Attorney at Mathys & Squire in 2023. He specialises in small molecule and biologic drug patents and has worked with a diverse selection of clients from universities to global pharmaceutical companies.
  • Juliet Redhouse (London office) has been at Mathys & Squire for nearly a decade as a patent attorney. She focuses on the life sciences sector and was recommended by both the Legal 500 and IAM Patent 1000 in 2023.
  • Max Thoma (London office) has become a Partner having previously been a Managing Associate. He works on a large international patent portfolio related to supercomputing and applications of artificial intelligence methods. Max has been ranked in Managing IP’s IP STARS 2023 directory recognising IP practitioners.
  • Andrea McShane (London office) joins Max as a Partner and works on patents with a diverse range of clients including private inventors, SMEs and large multinational corporations. She has previously conducted a broad range of research including biomedical systems, high-energy physics, and biomedical engineering.

These promotions together with our recent senior hires of Helen Cawley, to head our trade mark practice, and solicitor Nicholas Fox, to strengthen our litigation practice, demonstrate the continued growth and development of our senior leadership team.
