Max is a European and Chartered patent attorney with experience in drafting and prosecuting patent application in a variety of fields, in particular computer-implemented (software) inventions and engineering-related fields. He also specialises in work related to registered designs.
Max works primarily on patent drafting, prosecution, and contentious matters across a wide variety of technical fields, including software, connected/smart devices, renewable energy, medical devices, and mechanical and civil engineering. He has experience in working on matters related to patent infringement and validity and in opposition proceedings at the European Patent Office.
Max particularly enjoys guiding start-up and scale-up businesses through the process of protecting their innovations and obtaining valuable patents which support commercial objectives. He also works with large multi-national businesses.
Alongside his patent work, Max is a specialist in registered designs, and has experience in registered design preparation, prosecution, infringement, and freedom-to-operate analysis in the UK, EU and various other jurisdictions.
Max has a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cambridge, where he studied a broad-based course. He has particular academic experience in microsystems. His master’s thesis, which was published in an academic journal, related to the production of YBCO bulk superconductors. He holds a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London, and is a qualified European and UK Patent Attorney.
