Andrea works for diverse clients ranging from private inventors to academic entities, SMEs, and large multinational corporations. She lived in southern California for 10 years and is bilingual in German and English. She has a strong academic background including degrees in mechanical engineering and chemical biology, and has conducted research in bio-MEMS, microfabrication, high-energy physics, chemical nanosciences, and biomedical engineering.
Expertise
Andrea has experience in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the UK, Europe and the US, in a wide range of technical fields from biomedical applications to information technology and engineering. After completing her degree, Andrea was awarded a grant to undertake research in bio-MEMS and microfabrication at the University of Tokyo. She is named inventor on a patent generated from her two years’ research in Japan. Her doctoral research was carried out between high energy physics, chemical nanosciences, and biomedical engineering. Her thesis relates to separation science, in particular to protein capillary electrophoresis, and microfluidics. Throughout her doctoral work Andrea worked closely with startups in the biomedical sector.
Academic
Andrea has a degree in mechanical engineering from the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich, with specialisation in biomedical technology and nanotechnology. During her degree she undertook research work at the École Polytechnique Fédérale Lausanne, the University of Austin Texas, and the Yerevan Cardiologic Institute in Armenia. Andrea completed an interdisciplinary PhD in chemical biology at Imperial College London.
