Rogen is an Associate in the life sciences & chemistry team. He has experience in drafting and prosecution of UK, European and international patent applications, as well as patent searching and analysis. In particular, Rogen specialises in cases related to biotechnology, chemistry and medical devices.
Before joining Mathys & Squire, Rogen was a technical assistant at a regional UK patent firm, where he completed his Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary University of London.
Academic
Rogen attained his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biochemistry from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a doctorate in chemical biology from the University of Oxford. He spent more than 8 years in laboratory work, which involved projects such as small molecule organic synthesis, molecular biology, protein work, virus work, cell biology and immunology.
During his doctorate study, Rogen focused on the labelling of virus-like particles and real viruses such as adenovirus and dengue virus, which was in turn applied as a tool for tracing drug delivery and virus infection.

Rogen is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi).
