Oliver works in Mathys & Squire’s IT & engineering team as an Associate.

Oliver is a UK patent attorney with experience primarily in drafting and prosecuting UK and European patent applications, and in managing international patent portfolios. 

He also has experience in wider strategic and contentious matters, having advised clients in respect of disputes regarding the infringement and validity of patents and registered designs, as well as on patent licensing and freedom to operate.

Working with a wide range of clients including large corporations and SMEs as well as universities, startups and individual inventors, Oliver’s recent work relates to LED lighting, battery technology, civil and automotive engineering, and computer implemented (software) inventions.

Oliver graduated from the University of Warwick with a first class master’s degree in physics. His degree covered a broad range of topics including mechanics, geophysics, medical physics, optoelectronics, lasers, and semiconductor devices.

During his final year research project, Oliver investigated the effect of substitutional doping on the crystal structure and intrinsic magnetic properties of rare earth transition metal magnets.

Oliver also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary University of London.
