Dani works for a number of large corporations, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, and managing their international patent portfolios. He advises on technology-based agreements and handles contentious infringement and validity matters. Dani heads up our specialist Israel practice after spending years working with Israeli clients and attorney firms based in Israel. Praised for his “strategic guidance and astute advice” and “superb analytical skills in dealing with the various patent offices”, Dani is recommended in the latest edition of IAM Patent 1000. Recommended in the three most recent editions of IAM Strategy 300, Dani has been described as “a discerning choice of partner when dealing with complicated and sensitive patent matters, particularly at the European Patent Office. Expertise
Dani focuses on the fields of internet television, software, AI and machine learning, microprocessors, semiconductor devices, communication technologies, and electrical and electronic engineering. In addition, he works on cases relating to mechanical and structural engineering, electrical machines, fuel cells and other environmental technologies, as well as business process inventions. Dani has secured a number of fundamental patents in the internet television space and handles a portfolio of standard essential HEVC MPEG patents. In addition to his core practice, Dani works with startups, providing them with commercially relevant, strategic advice.
Academic
Dani has an honours degree and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. His broad spectrum undergraduate degree covered a diverse range of subjects, from software, IT and signal processing to power systems, electrical machines and control systems. During his postgraduate degree he developed AI and machine learning software for medical image analysis. He is a Chartered UK patent attorney and a European patent attorney, and holds a certificate in Intellectual Property from the University of London. He is also a European design attorney, filing and prosecuting hundreds of designs in the UK, via the EUIPO and globally.
