Alex Elder

Trainee Patent Attorney

Alex joined the Life Sciences team at Mathys & Squire as a technical assistant in 2017, after completing a PhD and postdoctoral research fellowship.

Alex spent five years as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Newcastle University working in cancer research. His work involved understanding the development of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, with a particular focus on the involvement of cancer stem cells.


Having graduated with a master's in natural sciences, specialising in biochemistry, from the University of Cambridge, Alex went on to do a PhD at Queen Mary University which focused on understanding the role of Polycomb group epigenetic regulators in liver development.
