Our life sciences practice is looking for graduates with strong academics (attained or on course for at least a 2:1 or equivalent) in areas including but not limited to biochemistry, chemistry, life sciences, biotechnology, and pharmacology.

Managing Associate | IT & engineering

We have an exciting opportunity for a fully qualified Managing Associate to join our IT&E team. We can promise a portfolio of exciting work and direct involvement with clients working on cutting-edge matters which can have a very significant impact upon the world. This practice specialises in medical devices and related technologies. You would have considerable responsibility for a large portfolio of prosecution work alongside an enviable level of contentious work including litigation, oppositions, and appeals.

The role requires someone who delights in developing IP strategy and has a creative approach to cultivating prosecution and opposition tactics. The position comes with significant client contact so you should have the ability to develop strong client relationships and be commercially astute.

Part or fully qualified Patent Attorneys | Life sciences

We are looking to recruit two near- or newly-qualified patent attorneys into our growing life sciences team. The roles will include direct client work with leading, blue chip biotech/pharma companies in the fields of antibody therapies, toxin-based therapies/cosmetics, and diagnostics. In addition, you will have an opportunity to work with SMEs, focusing on how best to support and promote their commercial objectives. A healthy mix of patent drafting, global prosecution, FTO analysis, and opposition and appeal proceedings will be readily available to the successful candidates. We have an excellent opportunity for a part qualified Patent Attorney to join our fast-paced IT & engineering team.  You will join a busy practice with a diverse portfolio of mostly direct clients ranging from international high-tech corporations to SMEs, providing plenty of opportunities for client interaction.  The portfolio is made up of a healthy mix of technical areas, ranging from software – notably in the areas of high-performance computing, fin-tech and even cryptocurrency – to mechanical engineering.  The varied client base means that you will enjoy a mix of work from prosecution and drafting through to contentious matters and litigation.

Part or fully qualified Patent Attorney | Standards essential patent team

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our specialist standards essential patent (SEP) team. In addition to the more usual work of a patent attorney drafting new patent applications and prosecuting them in Europe, a significant part of the role will involve working collaboratively with our clients to support the prosecution of their SEPs, including provision of bespoke advice, evaluation of standards essentiality, and the preparation of claims charts in respect of the 3GPP telecoms standards.

The role would be well suited to a part or fully qualified patent attorney with an electrical engineering or physics background and who has experience of, or interest in, handling telecoms work. While the role will, primarily, involve work in the telecoms sector, it will also involve the opportunity to draft and prosecute patent applications relating to a more diverse range of technologies.
