Since joining Mathys and Squire in 2012, Olivia has been involved in European prosecution, opposition and appeal work, as well as in the management of European patent portfolios. Olivia also has experience in the filing and prosecution of supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) in multiple European jurisdictions.

Olivia works in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biochemistry and biotechnology and has particular experience in the areas of small molecule pharmaceuticals, antibody technology and vaccine technology. Olivia's PhD research focused on genetic variation within the genes encoding the human cytochrome P450 drug metabolising enzymes of the liver and kidney, and examined the implications of this variation for drug-dosing and disease detection strategies in healthcare.
Olivia has an honours degree in biological sciences from the University of Bristol, a master's degree from Imperial College London specialising in host parasite interactions, and a PhD in human genetics from University College London. She holds a certificate in Intellectual Property Law from the University of London.
