Susan joined Mathys & Squire in 2025 as an Associate in the IT and Engineering team after spending nearly 9 years at another patent firm. She is a remote worker based in York.
Expertise
Susan is experienced in drafting and prosecuting UK and European patent applications across a range of technologies in the fields of physics and software for large multinationals, SMEs and university clients.
She particularly enjoys working with inventions relating to bioinformatics, AI & machine learning, quantum technologies and semiconductors.
Academic
Susan holds a master’s degree in physics with theoretical physics from Imperial College London and a PhD from the University of Leeds. Her PhD research was an interdisciplinary project working across both the Electronic Engineering and Physics departments and focused on the effects of combining nanomagnets and semiconductor materials.
