William joined the Mathys & Squire’s IT & engineering team as a Technical Assistant after graduating with a first class master’s degree in engineering science.
Expertise
William’s technical background covers a broad range of engineering disciplines, with particular expertise in biomedical engineering and diagnostic applications of deep learning and computer vision techniques. William’s work includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the UK, Europe and internationally for a wide variety of clients and inventions alike. In particular, he specialises in medical devices, software, and artificial intelligence (AI) inventions. William also has experience advising clients on their wider strategy, including competitor portfolio analysis and infringement and validity opinions.
Academic
William holds a master’s degree in engineering science (MEng) from the University of Oxford. His degree provided him with a strong technical background in the major engineering disciplines, with particular emphasis on biomedical engineering, control theory and artificial intelligence.
His master’s research project developed machine learning and deep learning image analysis techniques, creating an assistive clinical tool for predicting invasive breast cancer.
