Matthew is a Managing Associate in our chemistry team. Since joining Mathys & Squire, he has been involved in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in a variety of fields, primarily related to chemical technologies.
Expertise
Matthew has experience in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the UK, Europe and other jurisdictions, working for clients ranging from large multinationals to SMEs and universities. He has experience in a wide range of technologies including polymers, petrochemistry, ionic liquids, composite materials, chemical engineering, food chemistry and analytical systems.
Academic
Matthew has a master’s degree in natural sciences, specialising in chemistry, from the University of Cambridge. He then obtained a PhD from Imperial College London in the field of organometallic chemistry and catalysis, undertaking research focused on homogeneous Fischer Tropsch technologies and hydrogenation. Matthew also holds a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London.
