Jessie is an Associate in Mathys & Squire’s IT & engineering team. She has experience working with cases relating to AI & machine learning, medical devices, cleantech, and consumer devices. Jessie holds a first class degree in MEng materials science & engineering.
Expertise
Jessie has a keen interest in strategic portfolio development, having experience in UK and European patent drafting and prosecution across a host of technology areas. She has experience managing global portfolios, as well as handling contentious matters, including opposition and third party observations.
Jessie takes particular interest in engaging with the UK’s startup and scaleup community. She has been involved in providing intellectual property (IP) strategy advice and support for a number of startup accelerators and incubators, discussing all aspects of IP including registered designs, agreements and licensing, as well as patents.
She also has experience filing and prosecuting international design portfolios for a range of products.
Academic
Jessie is a European and Chartered UK patent attorney. She holds a first class degree in MEng materials science and engineering from Imperial College London where her studies equipped her with an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of materials, including metals and alloys, ceramics and glasses, polymers, composites, semiconductors, and biomaterials. During her master’s project, she applied her materials knowledge to research the degradation of oil paints, in collaboration with Tate galleries.
Jessie was also awarded a Certificate with distinction in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London.
