Florian joined Mathys & Squire in 2023 and is a qualified German and European patent attorney. He has experience in filing and granting proceedings of patent and trade mark applications as well as in opposition and appeal proceedings in Germany and Europe.
Expertise
Florian has been a qualified German patent attorney since 2011. He began his career in the field of intellectual property at a patent law firm in Munich in 2008. He has expertise in the technical fields of semiconductor technology, short pulse generation and in the field of quantum physics generally. His main focus is patents, in particular filing German, European and international (PCT) patent applications as well as conducting the granting procedure before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the European Patent Office, the World Intellectual Property Organization and worldwide. Additionally, he has expertise in defending and enforcing national, European and international patents.
Academic
Florian graduated with a diploma in Physics from the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with a focus on semiconductor technology, optoelectronics and especially quantum dots. He conducted his research for his diploma thesis on quantum dots at the Center for Nanoscience (CENS) in Munich, where he used optical spectroscopy to examine single core-shell nanoparticles. He received his PhD from the Humboldt University in Berlin on his research at the Max Born Institute for Nonlinear Optics and Short Pulse Spectroscopy on semiconductor lasers. In particular, his research was focused on the short pulse generation with a system based purely on semiconductors.
