Anna entered the patent profession in 2008, working in private practice before qualifying as a European Patent Attorney and a Chartered Patent Attorney in 2012. She works with a diverse range of clients; from university technology transfer organisations to international corporations. The “commercially savvy” Anna is recommended in the latest edition of IAM Strategy 300 as one of the world’s leading IP strategists, and in the inaugural IAM Strategy 300 Global Leaders guide, receiving praise for being “the ultimate safe pair of hands… She puts her clients first at all times and is a delight to work with”. Anna is experienced in drafting and prosecuting applications, as well as coordinating worldwide patent families. She has also been involved in both oppositions and appeals before the European Patent Office and with patent landscape searching, monitoring of third party patents, and applications of interest to clients. Anna has experience in a wide range of subject matter in the fields of biotechnology and life sciences, including therapeutic antibodies, plant biotechnology, advanced therapy and stem cells. She also has experience of advising on plant variety rights.
Anna graduated from the University of Cambridge with a first class MA honours degree in natural sciences, specialising in pathology. She went on to obtain a PhD in biochemistry from Manchester University. Her research focused on the control of angiogenesis in the eye, uncontrolled angiogenesis being a major cause of blindness and visual impairment in older adults.
