Max Ziemann

Max is experienced in drafting, prosecution in the UK, Europe, and globally, as well as global portfolio management and prosecution strategy. Max also has experience in freedom to operate analysis and defensive and offensive opposition before the EPO.

Max has worked with a variety of clients ranging from lone inventors and start-ups to blue chip clients and big pharma. Max’s technical background is in the field of chemistry, and medicinal chemistry in particular, although Max works in a wide range of technical fields including pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, catalysis, organic synthesis, piezoelectric materials, epoxy resins, agritech, mechanical engineering, composite materials, batteries, food and beverage, and medical devices.

Before joining Mathys & Squire, Max worked as an Intellectual Property Associate at another company, where he assisted with technology transfer and commercialisation of academic research.

Max holds a first class master’s degree in chemistry (MSci) and a PhD in medicinal chemistry, both from the University of Nottingham. Max’s PhD specialised in the design, synthesis and characterisation of novel nuclease inhibitors as potential treatments for osteoporosis.
