Once again, Innovate UK has opened its Young Innovators Programme to support 18- to 30-year-olds with creative and ground-breaking business ideas to commercialise their innovative idea.

Up to 100 winning entrepreneurs will be supported for 12 months through a £5,000 grant, one-on-one business coaching, and a contribution to their living cost (equating to 15 hours per week at the UK real living wage).

So far, the programme has already supported over 150 young entrepreneurs. Previous winning ideas include a device that keeps patients’ muscles working when on a ventilator to avoid muscle wastage, a washing machine that reuses shower water, 3D printed knee replacements, and many more! By 2023, the programme aims to award more than 200 young people with the support they need to get their idea off the ground and tackle some of the UK’s biggest environmental and societal challenges.

The Young Innovators Programme aims to recognise young people from diverse backgrounds across the UK who have great business ideas and the potential to become future leaders in innovation. The programme is committed to “increase the diversity of upcoming innovation talent and make innovation support more visible, accessible, and inclusive to all.”

Applications are open from 13 June 2022 to 27 July 2022. For more information, visit the Young Innovators website here.
