Since 2015, United Nations members have been working to meet the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/a>, covering issues such as sustainability, clean energy, climate action, work and economic growth, poverty, health and wellbeing and ensuring gender equality and quality education to all.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acknowledging the essential role younger generations play in tackling such goals and their contribution to innovative technologies, the European Patent Office (EPO) has recently launched its Young Inventors prize to inspire and reward young (<30 years old) innovators who are developing solutions that bring us a step closer to meeting such targets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eligible candidates can compete for the EPO\u2019s Young Inventors prize by submitting an idea, project or product in any field of technology that helps achieve any of the United Nation\u2019s 17 SDGs (full eligibility rules are available here<\/a>). Proposals can be brought forward until Friday 1 October 2021 and the winner will receive EUR 20,000, while the second and third placed finalists will win EUR 10,000 and EUR 5,000 respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
