The UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA) is the national trade association for angel and early-stage investment, representing over 650 members that collectively deploy in excess of \u00a32bn per annum. Their members include angel groups, individual investors, early-stage VCs, equity investment platforms, family offices, universities and accelerators. The UKBAA’s work can be clearly divided into four main sectors: connecting, representing, promoting and educating: <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

CONNECTING<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

UKBAA works to build better connectivity across the investment landscape through a programme of events, an online investment platform and a network of angel hubs across the UK.

REPRESENTING<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Through research and collaboration, they work to define market challenges and champion change to government, opinion formers and business leaders.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

From providing market intelligence on key trends to reporting on new developments in the investment landscape, UKBAA raises awareness and understanding of early-stage investing as an asset class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They upskill and professionalise through e-learning courses, workshops and roundtables. Improving the capacity to effectively deploy, and successfully raise, early-stage capital.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

How did you secure your early-stage investment?<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

UKBAA strives to build and connect the investment ecosystem, creating a coherent and diverse landscape for financing high-potential entrepreneurs across the whole of the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mathys & Squire Scaleup Quarter is pleased to have sponsored the “Hard Tech Investment of the Year<\/em>” award at the UKBAA Angel Investment awards in July 2025. This specific award celebrates the founders and early-stage investors leading the way in research-intensive and capital-intensive sectors, such as health and life sciences, and engineering and manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Partner Andrew White<\/a> was also part of the judging panel helping to choose the recipients for the 2025 awards across the 14 different categories. The UKBAA awards highlight the impact of angel investors, crowd funders and early-stage VCs who are helping to drive innovation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June 2025, the Managing Director of UKBAA, Roderick Beer, took part in our podcast, Innovation Unlocked<\/a>, delving into the state of the UK investment ecosystem, how it’s improved and how it can be improved more.
