Ilya KaziUK & European Patent Attorney
Ilya now leads teams cost-effectively managing substantial portfolios numbering tens, hundreds and even thousands of patents for a number of substantial multi-national corporations. He also still enjoys giving hands-on strategic advice to startups and growing companies or investors on IP strategy and personally handling complex oppositions and appeals before the EPO. In the latest edition of The Legal 500, one source comments: Ilya 'is second to none in being able to sit down with a new client and get straight to the crux of the issue they need to resolve. He is excellent both in detail and in longer term strategy, very often coming up with business directions that the clients have not thought of.’ In earlier editions of The Legal 500 guide, Ilya has been noted as 'a talented strategist', 'a master of his craft' (2016), and that he has ‘great knowledge of the medical device sector; he gives suggestions instead of just taking instruction’ (2017). The 'insightful, analytical' and 'exceptional' Ilya is recommended in the latest edition of IAM Strategy 300 for being 'the ideal IP strategist – he gets people on side easily and quickly, has no airs or graces and puts clients first every time.' He also features as a recommended individual in the 2019 edition of IAM Patent 1000, where he is 'trusted to handle commercially vital disputes'. He was ranked as an IP Star in the 2018 World IP Survey.
