Alexander has joined Mathys & Squire’s team in 2021 as an Associate. Alexander has a lot of experience with computer software inventions including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning inventions.

Alexander has worked several years in research and development of batteries for electric vehicles. He has many years of experience in full-service intellectual property (IP) consulting of local SMEs and universities. His experience and consulting activity encompasses the full IP range of patent (including German employee invention act), design and trade mark matters spanning from registration to enforcement of IP rights. He also has extensive experience in patent prosecution and opposition proceedings for international companies, in particular in the automotive, industrial technology, medical technology, energy and telecom sectors. Alexander specialises in industrial engineering and has a particular focus on computer implemented inventions (CII) in relation to 4IR and software applications. His approach for CII inventions is based on the latest jurisprudence and best practice from his vast prosecution experience with the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA) and the European Patent Office (EPO) as well as the many practitioners he used to work with in his previous positions.

BSc and MSc in industrial engineering at Technical University of Braunschweig, including study abroad at University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) and San Diego State University (SDSU).
