Paul has an Honours Degree in Chemical Physics and Mathematics. He qualified as a patent attorney in 1977 and has over 30 years’ experience in the patent profession. He was senior partner in another firm of patent attorneys before it merged into a larger organization. He joined Mathys & Squire in 2007.
Paul’s main areas of practice have been in the chemical and pharmaceutical disciplines, including drafting and prosecuting patents and managing patent portfolios for multinational corporations. He has extensive experience in contentious matters, particularly defending and attacking patents in opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office and litigation in the UK.
Paul is also a trade mark attorney and has considerable experience in advising a broad range of clients, including multinational corporations, in the development, management and protection of their trade mark portfolios, particularly in Europe and the Far East.
