Lauren joined Mathys & Squire in 2011, qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney in 2014 and then as a European Patent Attorney in 2015. Lauren handles a wide range of subject-matter in the fields of molecular biology, gene therapy and biotechnology. Â

Lauren works primarily in the fields of molecular biology, pharmacology and biotechnology, and has particular experience in the areas of peptide-based technology, antisense oligonucleotides and gene therapy, antibody and antibody-conjugate technology, PCR technology, biomarkers, transgenic plant biotechnology, recombinant gene expression and stem cells.Â Laurenâ€™s practice focuses on patent prosecution, opposition and appeal work before the European Patent Office.Â Lauren is also experienced in the management of European patent portfolios and associated strategic advice.
Lauren has an honours degree in natural sciences, specialising in genetics, from the University of Cambridge, and has a PhD in developmental neurobiology from University College London. Laurenâ€™s PhD focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying cell segregation and boundary formation in the zebrafish hindbrain through the use of zebrafish technologies, cell culture, siRNA, live cell imaging and cell tracking.Â Â
