Qualifications: MSci (Hons), MRes (Cantab), PhD (Cantab)
Clare specialises in patent work in the physics, electrical engineering and materials science sectors. She handles a wide range of patent matters in these fields, and also in relation to computer software. She has technical experience of ultrafast lasers, and surface measuring techniques including scanning electron microscopy, coordinate measuring machines, optical microscopes and interferometry.
Clare graduated from King’s College London with an MSci in Physics. She then moved to the University of Cambridge, completing an MRes in Ultra Precision Engineering and a PhD in Engineering. In her doctoral research, Clare studied field electron emission from nanomaterials, in particular carbon nanotubes. She fabricated and tested her own carbon nanotube devices, which have potential application in the generation of X-rays.
