Annabel Hector

Annabel joined the profession in 1988, and is a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney. She has an Honours degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Imperial College, London University, and handles patents in the engineering field, specialising in particular in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, material science and structural mechanics.
Annabel’s experience is mainly in private practice, where she was formally an equity partner in a central London practice. She has considerable experience representing and advising clients of all sizes, including managing patent portfolios in addition to drafting and prosecution. She also spent several years in the patent department of Thorn EMI working with sound and image technology and gaining experience of management and commercialisation of IP within a major industrial concern.
Annabel has experience with litigation, including high profile oppositions and appeals at the EPO, as well as infringement and validity proceedings at the UK High Court. She is an elected member of the Council of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, and chairs the Working Party on Future Policy.
