John joined Mathys & Squire in 2006 and qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney in 2010. He has a Masters Degree in Chemistry from King's College London, where he won the McGhie prize for Organic Chemistry. He also has a Doctorate from Oxford University for research into the partial reduction of aromatic heterocycles and its application to natural product synthesis.
He specialises in chemical technologies, with particular experience in the fields of organic chemistry, ionic liquids, commodity chemicals, oil and gas processing, electrochemistry and materials. In addition to the drafting and prosecution of UK, European and International patent applications, he also has experience of Opposition and Appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office.
John also holds a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from London University.
