Jeremy has an Honours Degree in Electronic and Integrated Circuit Engineering from the University of Liverpool. After completing his degree, Jeremy worked in semiconductor research and development for eight years before entering the Patent Profession in 2002. He qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney in 2008 and a European Patent Attorney in 2009. During his time in industry Jeremy was involved with thin film transistor technologies, analogue process and device development, and transient suppressor design. Jeremy is named inventor on a number of device related patents.
Jeremy has a particular interest in software and other computer related technologies and since entering the Patent Profession has developed an expertise in the prosecution of computer implemented inventions before the European Patent Office and the UK Intellectual Property Office. Areas of computer implemented technologies in which Jeremy has worked include cryptography, security, artificial neural networks, operating system architecture, and search engine optimisation.
In addition to maintaining his interest in semiconductor related technologies and computer implemented inventions, Jeremy has become involved in emerging Environmental Technologies including combined heat and power (CHP) cogeneration, waste heat recovery, and renewable energy.
Jeremy has also developed expertise in mobile telecommunications technologies and specialises in the evaluation of standards related patents.
Jeremy joined Mathys & Squire from another firm of Patent Attorneys in 2006.
