After completing her degree, Andrea was awarded a grant to undertake research in bio-MEMS and microfabrication at the University of Tokyo. She is named inventor on a patent generated from her two years' research in Japan.
Andrea completed an interdisciplinary PhD in Chemical Biology at Imperial College London. Her doctoral research was carried out between High Energy Physics, Chemical Nanosciences, and Biomedical Engineering. Her thesis relates to separation science, in particular to protein capillary electrophoresis, and microfluidics. Throughout her doctoral work Andrea worked closely with start-ups in the biomedical sector. Andrea lived in southern California for 10 years and is bilingual in German and English.
In 2010 Andrea joined Mathys & Squire. Andrea has experience in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the UK, Europe and the US, in a wide range of technical fields from biomedical applications to information technology and engineering. She does work for diverse clients ranging from private inventors to academic entities, SMEs, and large multinational corporations.
